The road infrastructure network in the constituency is in a fairly good condition However, more needs to be done through routine maintenance of the main and feeder roads. Mwala Constituency is fairly populated and the increasing population is beginning to pile Pressure on land which has been subdivided into uneconomical parcels. This state of affairs has led to exerted pressure on natural resources, leading to environmental degradation through sand harvesting and increased human activity. The major contributors to environmental degradation include; increased population, sand harvesting, unsustainable management of the ecosystem and low environmental awareness.

Over 70% of wage earners in the constituency are in agriculture and small scale trading and mainly involved in crop farming, Animal husbandry, and small scale poultry keeping, Fruit farming and boda boda operators. The main water sources for domestic use are protected springs, boreholes, seasonal rivers and the Athi River. These resources are however, declining and urgent measures need to be put in place to stop this state of affairs. The number of education facilities is not adequate to meet the needs of the growing learner population at all levels due to the introduction of free primary education and day secondary schools. This situation is further complicated by the shortage of teaching staff. Currently, the teacher: pupil ratio in primary is 1:42. Other challenges include insecurity, poor infrastructure and Joblessness.
